The mantle of worlds largest container vessels now sits with the MOL Triumph.
Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) announced that on the 27th of March the largest coontainer vessel ever built will be delivered from Samsung Heavy Industries shipyards.
Part of an industry wide trend, shipping lines have moved to larger and more efficient vessels to cover routes. The new 400m long 'Triumph' will have a 20 150 TEU capacity, edging past the previous record holder by 150 TEUs.
The record wont be held for long however. The trend will continue for larger capacity after Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) due to receive delivery of 6 21 000 TEU capacity vessels towards the back end of 2017.
