Hanjin shipping has filed for Bankruptcy and thrown the sea freight industry into chaos after rulings in Seoul Central District court on AUG 31, 2016. Unable to meet debt payments, over half of the vessels in the Hanjin fleet have either been seized or rejected from Port berthing’s across the globe.
Complex international laws pertaining to the bankruptcy, combined with Hanjin having a web of debts and assets across the globe have many expecting the situation drag on for some time.
With freight valued at USD14Billion on the water, many are hoping for a quick resolution.
We aim to minimise any impact if at all possible for clients. If you havent already been updated, please contact an Asean operator to see if you are affected by the Bankruptcy ruling.
